Welcome to the First CenturyHave you ever wondered what it was like “in the beginning?” What might it have been like to be there—at the center of Jesus’ ministry in Israel? What you are looking at is the fruition of our efforts through God’s having placed on my heart to build a Biblical facility for film companies who needed a venue which represented an authentic first century film set. This magnificent set evolved to be a physical representation of my devotion to God, as well as a replica of a first century village, like Capernaum. About Capernaum First Century Village
In 2006, I found myself in need of a set to capture the true essence of some first century short films God has placed on my heart to do. Hence, Capernaum was conceived. The set was developed over a period of three years. We completed two of our largest buildings with rooftop access in 2007. Then, we waited about a year to finish developing it in order to find an expert to oversee the project and vision. It wasn’t long before God sent us a wonderful man named Raymond Lynch, to whom God gave the “vision” for Capernaum. Raymond spent time in Israel learning the architecture there, which enabled him to bring the vision to realization with as much authenticity as possible. Construction was in full swing in 2008, and by 2009 the village was completed just in time for The Passover Experience live Easter production, performed and opened to the public. Where is Capernaum Village?Capernaum’s quaint first century village sits on approximately 10 acres at Cox Ranch, located about 9 miles north of Weatherford, Texas, in the small town of Peaster. The village, complete with indoor and outdoor sets and rooftop access, has 7 indoor outdoor stone units, 2 large courtyards, roof access with one upper room, a cave used as a stable, and even a water well in the hub of the village. We also have a full set of first century props and furniture to recreate any first century scene you desire to bring to life. Capernaum also hosts 100 hand-crafted first century costumes, robes and headdresses in all sizes—as well as high priest costumes to complete the accuracy of your first century production. To date, the village has housed film companies, churches and live productions, such as Star of Bethlehem Experience Christmas Production, and Easter’s Passover Experience. The village is available for all types of events.
